Having begun production of the Defender at the Solihull factory in the UK back in 1947, Land Rover has reached a momentous milestone: the building of the 2,000,000th Defender. The achievement was capped off with a special one-off model, and several notable fans, including Bear Grylls, were invited last month to the factory to help put together the history-making unit. Special exterior features include a Silver Satin paint job with Santorini Black accents at the wheels, door hinges, wheel arches, mirror caps and grille. A “No. 2,000,000″ badge appears prominently on the back, and a map of Red Wharf Bay, where the original model was drawn in sand, is engraved on the aluminum fender. Inside the cabin, there are leather-wrapped seats with the familiar Red Wharf Bay and No. 2,000,000 logos stitched onto the main panel and headrests. A nice finishing touch is the aluminum plaque, bearing the signatures of the workers who assembled the vehicle, affixed to the driver’s side plinth.
